Origin is a P.O.S... I am so pissed!!

JohnnyGrey

I changed the location in Origin for installed games, then copied the BF3 folder over to the new location, then deleted the old location after noticing it copied successfully. Fired up Origin, and clicked the "Download" button thinking it would auto-scan the new location... nope. Origin decides to completely wipe out the BF3 folder, even before I clicked "Cancel" on the screen confirming the download size.

Because of my shit DSL, it'll be over a day and a half before I get to play again, and that's if I decide to screw over everyone else in the house and leave it up all the time.

I was just playing a half hour ago, now I'm pissed!!!!

It's been great for me up until now. I just can't believe it decided to wipe out 20gb of data even though I chose to cancel the "download." I wouldn't be so pissed if I was on 50mb Comcast, but we're still on 3mb AT&T DSL, and it loses sync 20+ times a day.

Yeah, their reinstall system isn't as good as steam's; you need to get it downloading, pause it, then copy in the files, then resume the download. No help now I know, but maybe for next time.

Origin is inferior software to be sure and the only reason I'm harboring it on my computer is because of Mass Effect 3, but still, it isn't really all that terrible, it just falls short of the very high standard steam has set for the format. In my experience anyways.

That would have worked if I didn't delete the original folder on my SSD :P Oh well, maybe I'll be playing again by next weekend. I don't like leaving it on 24/7, because it'll destroy the internet for others in the house :P

Before transferring game on origin make a new directory and start download, cancel it and copy paste your BF3 folder now it will install it and just do repair so it can download any thing if its needed.

Origin is better than UPlay in my opinion. Uplay I find very cluttered and unorganized. Although steam has them both beat.
