Canon EOS M vs GoPro Hero 4 Black

TheSven

I've been looking for a camera and I found these cameras on Gumtree. There's a Canon EOS M for £150 (231 USD) or a GoPro Hero 4 Black for £200 (308 USD). It will mainly be used for videography but some photos on holidays and stuff as well. Which do you think I should go for? Thanks.

You cant compare these cameras at all... One is for beginner photography the other is a action cam mainly for filiming you while doing sports

this are two totally diffrent things, the gopro is a action cam, while the eos-M is a small entry level mirrorless camera.

the gopro will out do it in the field of video for sure, but is unable to zoom properly or being adapted to its envoirment.

the eos-M is a mainly photo focussed device, it will do for video, but bear in mind that it's lenses are seperate and they are more likely to be quite big

May the light have your back and your ISO low.

It seems that the EOS M is better for me then. Thanks.

EOS M is not a great camera, especially the origional model, its focus system is painfully slow and the camera lacks decent controls, also expensive and limited lense choice

go pro is an action camera.. so completely different

You kidding? Shoot in 4k 30fps on the GoPro, then you can zoom in 4x times without losing a single drop of full hd footage quality. The GoPro is a fantastic camera that is barebones and meant for easy use, because normally you're doing things like sports. What it all comes down to is what you're using them for. I can guarantee the EOS will look better in low, especially with actual settings to change. The GoPro has what's called an "infinite" field of depth. It's meant to have focus on foreground and background, so that won't ever be an issue. If you're more into the videography, I would get the EOS because there's things to play around with to make a picture or video look unique, while every single GoPro will look just about the same.

The EOS M has one redeeming feature. It is compatible with lens adapters, so you can mount a lot of manual focus lenses. It is meh for a photo camera, but it works as a small video camera, provided that you record audio seperately. The GoPro is a wonderful cam if you need to mount it somewhere and don't mind the really wide field of view and short battery life.
