So I've been using IE9 64bit since over a year as I can move the cache/ temp files off to my HDD, but as of recently its been causing my new game, Minecraft to crash. [it does not crash when the browser is not open]. Does anyone know which browser is safe to use with an SSD and supports moving the cache/ temp files of to a HDD?

Personally I would go with either Google Chrome or Firefox

Yeah. I've been using my SSD for awhile now, and have almost written a TB of data to it. Still at 100% for its life cycle.

15" MBP TB

AMD 5800X | Gigabyte Aorus Master | EVGA 2060 KO Ultra | Define 7 || Blade Server: Intel 3570k | GD65 | Corsair C70 | 13TB

Thank you everyone for  your replies!

@The Syndicate- I think thats my only alternative for a browser that allows that feature, I'll give it a try in a few days.

@ericlee30- GC still does not support moving the cache/ temp files to another location :(

@Humbug- I don't think having website cache on an SSD will speed things up any more than a few micro seconds, and yes, I am one of those people who cottonwools their electronics. Sorry, but still, thanks for the input.

@blade of grass- Thats intresting. Can you recommend any app like that to me please? I would really appreciate it :)

Found a discussion that it doesn't really matter if you put it on the SSD: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/rkXAt47LoEI

If you have enough RAM, just setup a RAMdisk of like 2GB and put your internet browsing cache in it. You won't "kill" your SSD as fast (especially if you're a "heavy" user and browse more than just facebook or watch more than one 5 minutes video a day on youtube) and it will be "faster".

That's what I've personally done as I watch a "shit-ton" of videos on youtube each day, accumulating to over 10GB worth of 1080p vids or so on average if I were to believe my daily usage according to my ISP.

Like you, my cache for IE (and my other browsers) is all outside of my SSD, but minecraft work perfectly fine, so I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you, minecraft shouldn't even be using any of IE's files or folders. (considering it's multi platform)

Are you sure it's not a mod you've recently installed that's causing incompatibility?

@mgsstar- I'm one of those extra scared people :P

@TetraSky- I'm running vanilla mincraft

@Arokhantos- I'm really sorry about what happened to you, but thanks for the info!

I guess I'll start using some other browser after I setup a backup next month after which I will be a bit less scared of a data loss. Thanks for the help though everyone! :)

My previous ssd died of loop of death which is a sandforce controller bug.

Wear level is't big issue anymore on ssd and ssd prices are becoming cheaper every month now 80€ for a samsung 840 120 gb ain't bad, i'm waiting atm for prices to drop little bit more then upgrading my ssd to 250 gb+ one then throwing old ssd in my laptop.

My last ssd corsair f120 had 100% life left also before it died from loop of death which can't power cycle out of, not mention  only 4 TB writes and 7 TB reads which had uptime of 1 and half year or so.

Now my 830 has total of 2,95 TB which i think is read and write combined and 90d uptime and 100% life left.

Also blocks can recover if you let them recover long enough so technically it does't wear at all unless you use fraps on ssd for example but who does this anyway.......

I don't use fraps, I use Dxtory, and the only way to record in good quality at 1080p at 60 fps is to use my 840 pro, I don't like how fraps splits the videos up into 4ish Gb parts, and also, Dxtory will let me record at whatever fps I want, and still let the game play at a higher fps ( I have a very powerful computer, so if I'm recording Minecraft at 60 fps, it will still actually play at over 400 fps) (yes, I know that since i have a 60Hz monitor I'm not actually gaining anything by doing that, but i've noticed using vsync gives me a crapload of input lag and micro stutter)

Main Machines~ Prometheus - i7 3930k @ 4.5GHz, X79-UD3, HyperX Blu 1600Mhz 24Gb (2x8Gb, 2x4Gb), XFX Double-D 7970, H100i, Military green C70, TX850M, All Corsair SP/AF-120 fans, Samsung 840 Pro 128Gb, 750Gb Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM x2, NZXT Hue accent lights (wouldn't reccommend, they don't stick well). Laptop~ Asus X202E touch notebook- 500Gb 5400RPM 7mm HDD, 4Gb RAM-not upgradeable, 1.8GHz i3, HD4000
