Why 1366x768 and not 1080p?

The only laptops I know of that still have 1366x768 screens are Chromebooks, not sure what your dad uses his computer for so I'm not sure if a Chormebook would fulfill his needs.

Bumping the resolution has nothing to do with the size.

A 1080p panel will make text much easier for him to read, guaranteed.

Here are the top reviewed ones on newegg in that size that I'd recommend:

All of them with i7 and a good amount of power behind them.

I left most of the gaming ones out, except the tiny tiny gigabyte at 3.5 pounds.

Dell Inspiron 15

That is a 14" laptop. And quite a bit of power packed into that little package.

Why avoid a gaming machine?

Gaming machine is equivalent to more powerful, so it'll work better with more applications. It doesn't have to be used for gaming, you know.

By the way, it may be easier if he uses the filters on Newegg himself.

Daniel Davis

Finding a laptop that size these days with an internal disc drive is going to be tough. You'd be better off grabbing a cheap external one for the rare occasion you need it.

Now if the size wasn't so stringent... I could get him into a much better laptop with everything you want BUT the size. If you need anything else, feel free to ask.

Indeed it was.
