"Mixing" two 8GB RAM Kits

Go to solution Solved by DeViLzzz,

You can mix ram and if you have 4 slots for ram you will be fine and have the 16 GB.  The thing is it will clock down to the lowest speed ram.

So right now I have 8GB RAM (2x4GB) sticks. If I were to buy a second 8GB (2x4GB) sticks would that work out to be 16GB total, or would I need to buy a 16GB Kit?

Cheers

should be fine as long as your motherboard has 4 slots

It will work, just make sure they run at the same speed and voltage.

It will likely work. Can't be guaranteed though.

@X1XNobleX1X as stated above, it will run at the lowest speed.
