MSI lightning R9 290X

Sapphire Vapor-X R9 290X

EVGA ACX 2.0 GTX 970 (If watercooling)

Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 gaming

These are the ones I recommend

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

one step up from the 280x would be the 290x or 970. the next step up again would be the 980. thats about the limit for single cards.

290x is the better bang for buck but the 980 is better

not sure if it's a thing but eBays international postage scheme maybe of use.

you don't pay import or customer charges on products that are from sellera who are participating.

I can get a 980 in the UK for around £450, if I order one on eBay from a participating seller in America I can get one for £370 including shipping at tax! that £70 saving will keep the missus happy for a day!!

Indian prices don't make any sense..

Get a 970 if that fits your budget. Otherwise take a look at the 280X or maybe even 770

Derp.. I read that earlier but forgot when reading through the other replies.. Apologies.

The 970/980 or 290(x) are the only logical upgrades. The prices where you live are weird though..

I would wait for the new AMD GPU either way, as that might make other GPU's cheaper or it could be great performance for less money than a 980 or something :)

Since AMD costs an arm and a leg over there, I saw go for the 970.

Im just stating the fact about the NVIDIA missinformation for GTX 970.

Im a GTX 970 user, and im not recommending you to get GTX 970.
I build a DDR4 X99S gaming rig's which is better on performance in paper. When i build it, i got a lot of lag, freeze, sttutering. I've tried update bios and clean GPU installation driver.

I've already change my RAM into a new one (since maybe thats the problem). Yet stuttering, freeze, lag still came. Im only playing Fifa 15, dota 2, H1z1. But i still get the problem.

My last computer in DDR3 had R9 280x and ALL IS AWESOME, way better than this DDR4 newly computer with GTX 970.

Well this is my experience, maybe other doesn't had this, but in my opinion. you should get R9 290x. and yes maybe you need to upgrade ur PSU.

But it's ur call
Hope it helps

this is wat reply I got in tomshardware.

  • 3 months later...

If you have a budget, Lightning 290X

If you don't, Titan X or 390X when it comes out.

Edit: oops, didn't see that you posted back here to give an update and didn't look at the OP date. Enjoy your 970.
