Since the new AMD stacked memory means a hell of a lot less PCB space usage, that could potentially mean in the future we will see triple GPU cards.

I personally don't think it'll be this or even next generation, simply because of heat output, PCIe lanes, and because of AMD being the only one with stacked memory until Nvidia's Volta, they won't need to compete in such a capacity yet. May not even occur to them.

But I personally believe it will happen as long as Crossfire and SLi remains in its current form, and Mini-ITX is surging forward in popularity among system builders.

My personal guess is 2017.

2017 or never.

The 295X2 is already a niche product and I doubt we will see a 3xGPU card soon if ever.

It's going to be a year with an even number for NVIDIA, and one with na odd number for AMD. I don't think they would release a Triple-GPU card without releasing a new architecture with it, and these companies do that every two years, usually a year apart from each other. With that said, I feel like 2018 we could get some teasers at CES, but then not have them go into real production until the end of that year. I voted 2018.

You know space is not really the determening factor in this... And theres really no reason for triple-GPU cards especially because scaling sucks. I'd be willing to bet money that its never gonna happen simply because it doesn't make any sense.

Quite a popular card in Norway at the moment. Not that long ago, most stores were out of stock. So I don't know about that... I would personally buy one without blinking if there was a dual-slot air cooled variant. (It could be up to 400mm long and I'd still go for it!)

honestly with the performance of mobile gpus and single gpus being quite amazing these days

I still see the incoming death of the MASSIVE desktop, I doubt a triple GPU will ever be a thing..

though I personally want a quad 980 card :D

Multiple PCBs, singular prototype, mobile GPUs. Three disqualifications in one, good job!

When the performance scaling is worth it and games support 3+ cards well enough.

Otherwise triple GPU on one card would be a waste of money.

Tri-SLi and Trifire scales fine. Quad is trash though.

even with the low power draw of the GTX 970/980s

until they fix the scaling of 3 way SLi or CF

3 GPU in one card wont be a thing

also multi-gpu card easily break in the case of the 295x2
