I really dont know what to do here, I have had my new PC parts delivered last week, I had 2 970s in the order, Just my luck it was the day before the 970 furrore exploded on the internet.

Im still within my 14 days, should I return them or not, I see alot of conflicting information, some say there is issues, some say its all a storm in a teacup.

The problem I have is Ive dropped a lot of money on a system I will need to keep for at least a few years, and I dont want to have to deal with issues such as stuttering and slow downs. Im playing at 1440p on a rog swift.

So whats the community's thoughts, do I return them or not?

Return them, get a 980 and get a second for SLI in the future.

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

SNIP

Keep them, still one of the best cards out for the cost

If you want more performance you could get 2x 980s, but its a lot more money-  they would last longer though

there is nothing that changed the performance of the 970

im pretty sure you bought them because of benchmarks and not because of the amount ROP's it had, they did 'cheat' a bit with the Vram, but on 1440p it shouldnt be an issue

people just smell blood and hope to exploit it...

Well people are have been exploiting the fact AMD launched bad drivers a couple of years ago on these forums for a long time.

Just because the card could be better, does not mean the performance they put out is not real. It's still a powerful set of cards and the alternative is creating a space heater with two 290's. If they are doing the job I think you should keep them.

AMD still has bad drivers, coming from someone who went from Nvidia to AMD in the past 6 months. :)

Have you tried the OMEGA drivers?

They are super good IMHO.

I have the latest ones installed right now. They are OK. But I can't just forget 5 months of screen tearing and artifacts while web browsing. Also, I can't forgive them for suggesting an r9 280x to a friend and the card being screwed up, causing tearing, stuttering, white screen, artifacts and so on even in desktop mode. Turns out the HIGH END card is not faulty but it is a shitty BIOS release and it shipped like that by AMD themselves... It's not just the MSI specific model, it's every model that came out, it was sorted out recently. How can anyone find that acceptable? :/

Im being honest , i never had issues like that with AMD drives.

Well let me think , hmm .

I had some weird stuttering on the latest drivers and that was that.

On the last 5 years using AMD.

I guess it just depends, I've never had ANY issues with Nvidia drivers except when my card started to die and the drivers would crash due to the card being half dead.

Game performance however is something I am very satisfied with, maxing out quite a few games on an r9 270 at 1080p and reaching 50-60fps in most. Best bang for buck, the equivalent would have been a 750Ti, which performs significantly worse yet at the same price point. :)

Yeah i have a 270x because its such a great ocer.

The alternative was the 660 and since this one is faster i bought it.

I dont really have a brand perference , since i buy cheap cards AMD is usually up my list.

Im running a 270x in 1440x900 and it has been performing great.

Return it. You shouldn't promote a company's lying actions by purchasing their product. That's why companies dick on the consumer in the first place--because they know they can.

I'd like to get a refund for both of mine given the opportunity to do it without any further problems, unfortunately for me my PSU wouldn't support any other cards without needing an upgrade.

Quit whining already. Waaaaaa I'm too poor to buy a bigger psu so I'm stuck with them

Where's my freaking violin

"Quit whining".

Top kek. When did I say at all that I'm "too poor" to buy another PSU? I shouldn't have to buy another PSU if I wasn't originally lied to in the first place, of course I'll be upset because I have to buy another one.

I believe I have the right to be pissed because a company lied to me. That's all I'll say on the matter since every Nvidia fanyboy that can't think for themselves have to unconditionally support them. Nothing like standing up for yourself as a consumer *sarcasm*.

P.S. I could probably buy you that violin if I didn't have to spend extra money on a new PSU.

He bought them before the whole shit storm.

I realize that. As I also bought both of mine before as well, regrettably. If he is still within the refund period I see no reason why he shouldn't return them.

Are you having issues with the cards?

The issue is more about the ethical unethical business practice of Nvidia as opposed to the performance of the cards. You people don't quite understand that.
