Hello this is my first time ever posting on a forum so please don't murder me. Anyway I got the Tiamat 7.1 from Razer for 50% off from razers CES appreciation sale. After hooking it up it sounds like garbage on 7.1 mode (no bass) but it sounds better on 5.1 mode(7.1 mode turned off). After poking around on the Internet people say that they are trash or they are legendary... I found out that some people say that it sounds a lot better with a sound card (Asus Xonar DX)because you have to configure it. Now here's my dilemma: should I buy a sound card in hopes it makes it sound better or should I return them? I love the build quality of them but the audio is terrible right now. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Doesn't the Hero already have good on board audio?

Maybe set it up properly?

The Razer Tiamat simply has poor audio quality. Your best bet is probably to cut your losses and buy

something better, in my opinion.

This may sound mean, but those who say this headset sounds good simply haven't been exposed to

anything half way decent. Razer's headsets in general sound quite poor. Their idea of making a headset

with 'true' surround sound is a good indicator as to how little they know about audio. You only have two

ears, so anything more than two drivers is entirely pointless.

At any rate, buying a sound card will most definitely not improve your audio quality. On-board audio on

motherboards these days tend to be really very good.
