DIY USB 2.0 Front Header to USB 3.0

BigBig5

I have a case that has 2 usb 2.0 front headers and I want to switch them out with usb 3.0. Has anybody done this and is there a way I can do it? The case is a NZXT Gamma.

Have a picture of what your I/O looks like? Like with the front off so I could see how it is mounted. Most of the time it is a PCB and there isn't much you can do unless the case manufacture releases an updated board, but some cases have things individually mounted where you could take something like the Anker one above and mount that where your existing 2.0 are for a clean install.

Yeah, that is the PCB way I was talking about, it would be pretty difficult to cleanly replace those with 3.0 ports. Your best bet is just going to be putting a 3.5 or 5.25" 3.0 bay in.

If you want to spend the time, you could look into new headphone/mic ports and use the cable part from the Anker bay to replace that PCB, but its not a simple swap and would require tools to make a new mounting plate for the components.
