ALC1150 vs Fiio e10k?

Go to solution Solved by ShearMe,

Only benefit should be less EMI from the PC and analog volume control. Might improve a tad from the onboard's output impedance, might not.

I wouldn't suggest you spend the money unless you've having an issue with onboard.

I'm a noob to audio.

The alc1150 chip is from my z87 msi mpower max onboard soundcard with creative Sound blaster cinema. I use a cheap logitech 2.1 stereo speakers and a philips fidelio x2. What i want to know is does Fiio e10k worth the upgrade over this onboard soundcard of mine. I mean this chip is not that bad, right? Msi says it can drive 600ohm HP ._.

There might be some differences in sound and/or frequency response, but I doubt it's worth the upgrade, unless the existing got problems....

I am going to agree with @EmoRarity. Most people cannot pick up the differences, so an amp/dac might be useless for you. I think you should be more than happy with the Fidelio X2. They are exellent headphones.

I doubt there would be a difference to hear.

Holier-than-though, bible-thumping adjudicator OUT.
