help (gaming desktop for 2000$)

Go to solution Solved by Archangel1994,

As a baseline I made this:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($317.99 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler  ($89.98 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($146.98 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 4GB WINDFORCE Video Card  ($599.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Corsair 780T ATX Full Tower Case  ($179.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($108.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)  ($90.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $1783.89
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-01-19 06:50 EST-0500

Yes the case is expensive and I added the OS but this will give you a general idea of what to expect. Also if you switch to a less expensive case then you know how much you will have left.

For peripherals (If you need them) I recommend:

Mic: Modmic 4.0 or a quality desktop mic with stand like the AT2020
Headphones: HD519/ATH-AD500x/700x for open-back, ATH-M40x for closed back
Keyboard: A good mechanical keyboard. Corsair K70/95 RGB if you want RGB lighting. Otherwise CM Storm Quickfire is a solid mech keyboard series

i would like to have a new gaming desktop i have a budget of 2000$ i already have the GPU the windforce gtx 980 i also have a 144 Mhz monitor but i don't know how to mange the built so i can run games in ultra settings with a maximum number of FPS...

what should i have as CPU and motherboard and should i change my GPU ? with a 2000$ budget

A 144MHz monitor?

Holy shit I don't even want to imagine the power needed to drive that

xD

As for the build I can help you, I need the following:

- Currency (USD, CAD or AUD)

- Peripherals?

- OS?

- Special requests for the case/color scheme etc?

Also are you a silence freak or do you want a case that's a bit better performing?

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

Very nice rounded build. Will run like a beast with the 2x 980's.

Does the Ripjaws X Ram fit under the NH-D15? Not sure.

Yes it does, the NH-D15 has left out some fins at the bottom for HP RAM. My friend is running trident X under one now (And those are big) though one of the fans might need to be slightly elevated but that's no issue

Look at the build I posted. Black/red Build and the 780T also has a black version, let me adjust

Do you need peripherals?
