GPU decisions....

Go to solution Solved by Nup,

I'd say go with the discounted 970, it should demolish any 1080p games for a good long while :)

The added performance from AMDs 300 series wont be worth it for you if you're using a 1080p resolution. As something cheaper will drive your games just as well! (i.e over 60 fps)

So I was waiting for my studying semester to end to build my new rig. And I got confused. There've been couple rumours about upcoming R9 300 and how well they perform, but at the same time my local computer shop have offered great discount on gtx 970... I wonder what would be better for a casual gaming on 1080p, dont think I will upgrade any time, because here 1440p and 4k cost as twice as my build(sadly) :( . I would like to play everything maxed out at the moment in 30-60 fps radius. Should I wait for AMD offer or GTX 970 will suffice my needs?

The 970 will do really well at 1080P. If it's discounted it's even better for you.

If you're building a PC now, get the PC parts that are available now, don't hold off for something in the future.

If you were just upgrading, i would suggest to at least wait and see how the AMD 300 series are performing. But in this case, just go wit h the 970.

who cares...

Yeah, go for a discounted 970. It's a VERY good card for 1080p.

I'm going to agree with the majority of folks in this post, I too think the GTX 970 will do a great job - even better if it's discounted :)

At 1080p who cares.  The 970 is fine.
