CPU choice for older games

what are some good strong SINGLE core performance CPUs for older games that are never gona be able to use more than 1 core/thread? U know.. those old games that use the CPU to load everything instead of letting the GPU do it :(

im thinking things like i3 4150 clocked at 3.5ghz since the price is decent and I HEARD that these have strong single core performance, but are there anything else out there ? AMD?

Thanks in advance

just in case someone here plays vindictus, you know what im talking about x.x

Hmm, are you looking to purchase a graphics card for under 100$ then the i3 4150? I'm sure most A8 and A10 chips work pretty well with older games.

already have a gtx 660 from EVGA in my build. OC'ed a little bit more myself on top of manufacture OC, so I think my GPU is enough to max most older games. It's just that in MMO where a bunch of people show up on the map eg: main city in a game, the framerate TANKS. I am assuming this is a CPU bottleneck?

The Pentium G3258 is far and away the best CPU out there for what you're looking for. It absolutely kills for emulators too.

G3258 and overclock it...this should give you the best per core performance at the cheapest price possible man.

(YEAH first time it ever made sense for me to recommend a G3258 over a core i3 :P)
