best on ears for at or under 100USD?

carolkarine

Hey! I'm looking for a good set of headphones. I have a Fiio e18 kunlun usb dac that's worked wonders with my audio technica ATH-ANC23's, but those are in ear active noise cancelers and I'm looking for something for just pure music enjoyment when sitting at my desk, and playing games.

I have 100usd, hard limit, on only amazon (preffered with prime option) suggestions?

I would say the Sennheiser HD 518.

Thanks! I'm leaning more towards the 280 pros because they leak less sound.

439 would be more comfy if you only care about sound getting out. If you care about sound getting in, I recommend CHC Silverado.

thoughts on the HD 380s? I've heard they're basically the 280s, but more comfortable and with a better soundstage.

I haven't heard such good things about the comfort, I think they would be a fine choice. Certainly better than the 439.

how do the HD 380s compare to the M40x's? I used to have a pair of sony studio headphones that seem to have the same chassis as the m40x's, and while the sound was great my ears always got hot and I hated it.

I've never had the HD380s on my head for more than a minute so I can't say, except that I took a pair of ATH home with me instead, replacing a very well worn pair of Sony MDRs.  I think all three are more similar than different.  If your ears get hot with one you probably aren't going to find either of the other two significantly cooler.  You could always try some velour ear pads?
