About To Push The Button

Zuzu

Yup bought the mobo. So these fans are better/equal to the Noctua do you think?

I think they are better functioning.  More airflow, quieter and more powerful.  I would hope the Noctuas are better built at least. =/

THAT mobo is why you sit for a day or two...godamn!

@ Zuzu Wait on the fans a second... How many do you need for the Cooler?  Any?

I look at performance/price ratios.  1/5 the price.

But what do you need the fans for?

Yeah case fans.

The original h440 stock layout is 3 120 fans in front and one 140 at the back...

Don't you think I should maintain that and just replace the stock fans with quieter ones? Or does it not matter? @stconquest

Well you have options 3 120mm, or 2 140mm in front and the same on top.  140mm are capable of better airflow at slower speeds, therefore they are quieter.

Okay, can you suggest which 140s I should use for this in place of the current fans?

Also, do I need PWM?

Let me check the motherboard, I have to count the headers for 3-pin fans and PWM fans.

@Zuzu it looks like 5 PWM and one 3 pin...gonna double check

@Zuzu, it says 5 PWM only, but I see and extra 3 pin on the board.

Your case come with 4 fans already....these freakin things are expensive.

Grab 3 Sickleflow 120mm fans for the top and be done with it. $20 total.  They are 19 dbA and push a lot of air with a good amount of static pressure.

These are you front 3 fans:  http://www.nzxt.com/product/detail/141-fn-v2-performance-case-fan.html

They are fine.  Quiet.

@Zuzu This is you rear fan, it is quiet too.  http://www.nzxt.com/product/detail/142-fn-v2-140-performance-case-fan.html

All you need is 3 120mm Sickleflows for $6 each.... for the top exhaust.

3-pin fans can go into 4 pin sockets on the motherboard.  They just won't be tunable.  All these fans are under 21 dbA, running at 100% is not a problem.

Okay but what about the rear?

The 440 comes with a 140mm for the rear, I linked it above...

Front is intake, back and top are exhaust.  Slight negative air pressure.  You will deal with it fine =D.

There is nothing wrong with the NZXT stock fans. They are quite good in fact. For the build contemplated there really is no need to add more fans. The three intake and one exhaust should provide sufficient air flow.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
