What the hell is going on ?

Go to solution Solved by dadasmithywinkle,

Hi guys, so basically there is something weird going on with my brothers speakers that we noticed a few days ago, His speakers are always playing some kind of korean/ spanish radio! It mostly only comes out of the centre speaker and is extremely quiet (I have to push my ear against the speakers to hear it).

The speakers are unplugged from the pc as well, literally the only wire going in is power. We have also unplugged his FM radio alarm clock from the mains as we thought that maybe it was interference from that, but it is still happening.

I was listening to it before and it went abit louder for a few seconds, so I managed to get a video. We have absolutely no idea how this is happening as there is no input whatsoever to the speakers. So any idea as to why its happening would be great.

here is the video, you will have to put your sound up probably.

Maybe the wires are picking up the channel, kinda like a radio anntenae.

Basically, your speakers are acting as a radio, picking up signals from a radio station.

Tune around on and am/fm radio and see if you can find the same station :)

Unfortunately it does not mean they are broken, so you can't just RMA them. Its also sometimes difficult to get rid of.

May want to try some ferrite on the power and input cables.

Yeah the speakers are pretty old anyway I'm not bothered about getting new ones, I'll try sorting out his wires and separating them from some of the bigger power leads, If that doesn't work I'll look into the ferrite things. Thanks for your help

Never had this happen, as I live in the middle of nowhere? Is this common in cities with a radio station?

Don't know, however these radio stations definitely arn't based in manchester where I live, so I imagine they have probably come quite far.
