Nexus 5 charges slowly - Any solutions?

Rheinwasser
Go to solution Solved by Rheinwasser,

How slow? How long does it take to fully charge?

I have that too. And I find that charging with a 2.5A port is actually slower than charging it with 1.2A output.

i fixed it. for some reason i dont understand at all you have to use the original cable. i have tried multiple cables and they didnt work.

I have just gotten a nexus 5 and it charges very, very slowly. If I use it while charging it actually discharges.

When on stand-by the battery lasts for about two days, but when I use the phone heavily (watching 1080p videos at 40% brightness) it only lasts for 4-5 hours. I am not sure if that is normal either.

There are many reports on this problem on the internet but I haven't really found a solution for the problem yet. Maybe you can just post your experience.

BTW, if I have to send it in for RMA, is there a way to backup everything on android so that I dont have do redownload apps and that stuff?

At lowest brightness with my nexus 4 I'd be lucky to get 4 hrs of screen on time watching videos. You could try another charger, maybe it's not high enough amperage.

the charger supplies 2 amps, so that should be fine.

slow charging times is a common problem on the nexus 5.

i had it charge one night and in the morning it was 23%.

normally it should be around 8 hours screen-on time.

Where did you get this info? Not really possible, most users get around 3-4 h screen on time on the nexus 5, and when I had it it was about same, 3-4. Your results are just fine.

I don't always have time to study, but when I do, I don't.

A Nexus 5 should not get anywhere near 8 hours, especially while watching video.  Anyway, try using a different charger, preferably the one that came with the phone.

Not sure how it is nowadays, but back then, Titanium Backup was the primary app used to do a full system backup.

I find it hard to believe. Just Google "nexus 5 screen on time" and you will find that your results are as good as anyone else's.
