Hi,

For some reason my powerline setup has gotten to a point of it being unbearable (1.2MB/s). I used to get 3-4MB/s (I get 4.5 on wifi), but it's been getting bad recently. It's plugged into an extension cord, but that's never caused an issue until recent. Thanks.

EDIT: It's back to 2.5. Still not that great though

Seems like powerline equipment deteriorates. Also, surge protection stuff doesn't help with the signal.

Try without surge protection, and really, if you can, just lay Ethernet cable. It might be ugly and everything but it just works.

Sig under construction.

"It just works"? I have heard that one before...

I've still never had any problems with Ethernet. Also, routing cables around your house is pretty cheap and can be done pretty well if you put a decent amount of effort in.

Just use wireless. Granted, I'm right near the router, but I have several walls to go through, and my rig is tethered to my netbook through ethernet, which is connected to the router through wireless, and I get better speeds (and very slightly worse ping) like this than just with my wireless card.

Yeah, I have an ethernet cable going up the stairs, through 2 walls, into my brother's room. He has a switch there..

After that it goes through another wall to my room.

All neatly packed away, so it doesn't look bad.

11/10 would do it again to get rid of the wifi

I don't use surge protected extension cords.

IIRC, powerline adapter are supposed to be put directly into the wall outlet.
