So I recently over the past 6 months or so have really gotten into computers. I've built my own gaming rig and really enjoy PC stuff. I pretty much consider it a big hobby now. Is there anything else similar I can pursue related to this? Cause you know, I don't exactly have enough money to build a new PC every 2 weeks, or I would do that, lol. I like programming, and software applications as well.

Maybe find people who are in need of a computer, even if it's not for gaming. Persuade your friends who aren't PC gamers to join and help them in building their own computer.

Microcomputer experiments are very cheap, or you could learn some basic coding

Hmm, what exactly is the microcomputer stuff you are talking about? & ya I plan to take some programming courses in college in the future, I supposed I could try learning on my own before hand.

Programming! I've started with CodeCademy and am learning the basics of HTML/CSS now that I've gotten a solid foundation of JS.

Great for a hobby, or to start the road to a career in the future! ;)

I'll check it out. Ya I have done some programming before and really like it. Thanks for the tip on that website.

CodeCademy is a great, 100% free site, as is KahnAcademy (though I like the former more than the latter, honestly).

Does it get pretty complicated? Or is it just kinda a basic introduction?

It is wonderful seeing someone get involved in tech...

I would recommend the following:

  1. Arduino...its a microcontroller but its simple to learn
  2. raspberry Pi...its based on what is essentially phone/tablet architecture but you can do a lot of cool things with it.

It's pretty simple, they do a great job of gradually getting you used to it, and have mini-projects they walk you through so instead of just showing you how to code, they show you how to make a site from start to finish without just dumping you on a blank page.

In short, I've never felt like I needed more info than they gave me on the page.

I hadn't even heard of this Rasberry Pi thing, it's like a mini computer, what exactly can you accomplish with it?

raspberry pis are cool, small electronics/programming projects are always great.

learn python. Probably one of my favorite programming languages. cross platform, can do pretty much anything with it, and is fun to learn!

Is it bad that my dream setup only costs a few thousand not counting the obutto?
