Full of false information.

"The 860k will work with any GPU you put it with" Yea, but it'll be useless because it will bottleneck. Also, why are you recommending people do SLI with their 860k's and FX processors?

Waste. Of. Money.

The 8350 is not equal to 4690k, and i5's don't struggle with rendering/livestreaming anymore than 8350's do (with Quick Sync, they're better actually) and beats the 8350 in gaming (in pretty much every game).

The i3 destroys 43xx in games (even better than the 8350 a lot of the time) and a little better in rendering depending on the model, how is it even comparable?

"even dual-channel/single-channel doesn’t affect performance" It does actually, it's not much (~5%), but it does.

And what are those gpu 'benchmarks'? Since when is the 970 25-33% better than the 290??!?!? What?!

Please add actual benchmarks instead of random numbers you came up with in your head.

I figured this would happen. First of all, full of miss information is a little extreme. The reason I said what I did about RAM was because the difference is little enough that it doesn't matter, Gamers Nexus has a great article about it (http://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/1349-ram-how-dual-channel-works-vs-single-channel). I didn't put actual GPU benchmarks in this for all the games because I was trying to keep this as simple as possible I did put in the notes that performance will vary a lot from game to game. I just wanted to throw up some sort of visual that someone who didn't know anything about GPUs could lock on to and realize that anything above a r9 285 is overkill more most people. I also mention to do your own research. A lot of benchmarks that I've seen show that while a more expensive CPU doesn't provide enough improvement on gaming performance compared to a higher end GPU. I'm also I pretty sure that Jay mentioned that a 7850k won't bottleneck a high-end GPU, regardless Jay did a different video about bottlenecks (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAgpvWc4VBM). I know that the 860k isn't the i5, but the principle is the same and he was using BF3 for his benchmarks, which is quite a bit more CPU intensive than most games. I favor the 8350 just a little because of the lower price, the better multi-threaded performance, and the overclocking potential down the road, hence my comment about live-streaming. It will probably be replaced by broadwell i5. You still missed the point of the article, which is a beginners guide, I tried to put myself in the mindset of a complete noob, so I said to even ignore things like overclocking that can have a massive performance increase.

This is why we have the new builds and planning section.

http://linustechtips.com/main/forum/18-new-builds-and-planning/

Newbies are more than welcome and if they make mistakes they can get a lot of advice from some of the seasoned members of that section.

i know there is a place here but usually a noob gets multiple answers and even more confused

If it's for beginners, give them actual benchmarks and factual information instead of sugar coating everything/giving false information. You can't learn when you get false information

Jay is a Youtuber, not a professional benchmarker. Please stop taking people's word for everything just because they are big on Youtube.

I'm tired of seeing that how to benchmark a video card video because it's irrelevant. (underclocked i7 =/= FX)

Before trying to teach people, do your research instead of unintentionally misleading them.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/8427/amd-fx-8370e-cpu-review-vishera-95w/3

Saying that a 970 is 25-33% better than a 290 is a joke, it doesn't matter if it's trying to put things a simple as possible.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1068?vs=1355

BTW, the FX-4300 performs very similarly to an 8350 in games. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/285927-gaming-performance-between-4300-8350-and-4-threaded-performance-between-amd-intel/

Simple math, by your logic;

FX-4300 = i3

FX-8350 = 4690k

So 4690k = i3 in games? No.

Edited to more appropriate language/less insulting.

To be completely honest, a first time builder will be better served with either a video tutorial or step by step images. You have to keep in mind that tech jargon might fly right over their heads. Doesn't mean to baby talk through steps, but a few visual aids couldn't hurt,

Sorry for coming off passive aggressive, I type like a dick sometimes when i don't really mean to.

its okay, i probably should have done a little more research, but i kept on seeing people ask the same questions over and over again it was getting ridiculous and they kept on getting multiple answers that probably just confused them even more it wasn't that long ago when i was like that

that's why i said to tinker with old hardware until you were comfortable, i don't have the resources to do my own visuals and i don't wan't to rip-off other peoples

Sorry for coming off passive aggressive, I type like a dick sometimes when i don't really mean to.

Thanks for your advise. I learned about building a pc in high school but it was basic. I also like watching the building guide videos that Linus does.

Love cats and Linus. Check out linuscattips-fan-club. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Z9QDVn and Asus ROG Swift. I love anime as well. Check out Heaven Society heaven-society. My own personal giveaway thread http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/387856-evga-geforce-gtx-970-giveaway-presented-by-grimneo/.

I tried to keep the tech jargon down, but when they go to pcpartpicker they will run into it and even if they don't know what it means, they will at least know what the numbers they are looking for
