But as revealed through meetings with laptop vendors, Nvidia’s focus on automobiles at CES doesn't mean the company isn’t launching new gaming-related products during the show. A new GPU has been added to the GTX 900M series—the GTX 965M.

Information is light at the moment, but the basic specs for the 965M are:

While Nvidia didn’t specify which version of Maxwell the 965M is running, it’s very likely GM204: among the features supported is Voxel Global Illumination (VXGI), which the company has stated is only compatible with their second-gen Maxwell architecture. The 965M is also likely to have variants, given that Nvidia told us the memory is “up to” 3GB.

In terms of performance, Nvidia says that their current top-of-the-line mobile processor, the 980M, is about 70% faster than the 965M, and the next step down, the 970M, is about 35% faster than the 965M. This of course will vary based on how each vendor specifically configures the GPU for each of their laptop models.

Now time to wait for the desktop variant and see how close they are together.

Are we gonna see a GTX 960 & GTX 965??? Hurry the f*** up nVidia and show us the f***ing desktop beauties. (please :D)

They already have. The 60, TI, and 65TI have already been confirmed and will be on store shelves by the end of the month. Jesus you people knew the release schedule months ago... It's the same ravenous, irrational demands for Broadwell K on desktop. Late Q1 to early Q2 as promised back in October.

"Unleashes" makes it sound like the released a REALLY powerful card.

i.e. Nvidia Unleashes the 990ti super awesome unicorn-farts overlocked to the moon and back twice edition.

Reveals would be a better turn. But then again, "unleashes" sounds cooler

Someone's a bit late to the party. Multiple websites have posted full specs including clock speeds, information not listed in the rumors from kitguru and wccf. notebookcheck, gamedebate, and pcspecs all agree on all 3 cards. How exactly do you think that happened?

Its all fun and shit. But how many people do you think REALLY buy expensive gaming laptops?

Im going to wait for a 920m maxwell gpu. Those are in the price bracket of laptops that i am willing to buy and thats enough to play source games.

Unless they try to peddle it with a 768p TN panel. I aint paying money to corporate scammers anymore.

IPS screen is minimum requirement.

I never said that they were incorect. I'm just saying that I want NVIDIA to annouce them finally. Just like I want INTEL to announce the desktop Broadwell CPU's.

Intel has already been saying forever it will be March before you get them. As per Nvidia, do you really need anything more than their previous release patterns? End of January at the latest.

You may want to check out benchmarks of the 920 vs. Intel's Iris graphics at that point. With such a low stream processor count on that maxwell card it's more than likely to be outdone by Intel's Gen8 graphics flagships.
