Hello forum, i screwed up when i bought my k70 keyboard, it looks nice

(i could do with a single row of macro keys and full aluminum frame)

I LOVE the aluminium. it's just that the red switches are worse than membrane

for me.. it really messes with my fingers as i slam the keys to the bottom of the

frame.

I have bought a switch tester, and while i like the smoothness of the white key,

all the talk about inconsistency worries me.. i think i have come to the conclusion

that green would suit me the best, now i need to find the keyboard..

Tl:DR

EDIT: I am a frigging genius, i figured it out, the ultimate keyboard.

I think i got it .. the frame of the ducky year of the snake edition, swap out the keycaps for some nicer ones,
beautifully dyed keys like the premier edition.  add a 104 key layout and change the wierd upper right keys
to a mute and volume scroll, add optional wrist rest, white led. Green cherry keys. VOILA! the perfect frigging
keyboard.

Wait why is the Tl;dr longer than the actual post...

Do you know what TLDR means?

Lol, it isn't a summary(well it kinda is). It's a "skip here for the most important part"

Sorry for the massive post, i have a tendency to do just that. But i am

looking for the perfect/most ideal keyboard, it is somewhat justified :P

/end off topic.

Of course he knows and if you don't quote him he won't see your reply.

Well he wrote his TLDR longer than the post and he did see it because hes following his own thread..

Why not swap your switches?

i like the k70, but it isn't so perfect that i would start soldering to swap keys.(don't have tools for the job)

my biggest gripe with it is the 18 macro keys and the black plastic lump on the side. Right next to the

beautiful aluminum.. like a tumor on the side of it.

I would say a Ducky shine or a k70 with other switches.

amazingly enough Norway actually do have some ducky keyboards available,

who would have thought we would have a proper product... or anything available.

it would have to be a legendary or "year of the" edition with aluminum body, and that

i can't acquire.. it doesn't have scroll wheel for volume but it's close, too bad i can't

buy it.

If only they had a k70 vengance with green cherry keys.

Are you any good with a Soldering Iron? You could make your own keyboard. Go to r/mechanicalkeyboards, i'm sure someone there could be of more help.

Isn't the Code keyboard mx green and white backlit? It's also minimalist in look so a fair bit smaller than the K70.

The only thing is it's not aluminium and doesn't have the scroll wheel for volume. I really don't think there is a keyboard like you're asking for. If enough people want an MX green version of the K70 corsair would probably make one.

As far as wrist rests. The only ones I can think of that comes with them in the box would be Logitech and Corsair. But neither have Green switches.

And I know that it's a plain keyboard, and that it doesn't have white LED's. But check out the Ducky Shine 4. It's one of the few keyboards that can be found in both Nordic layout, as well as with MX Green switches.

Or hell, you could even look into the Ducky Premier. It has PBT Keycaps in Green/White flavor. And I know that it can be found in MX Green, too. I know some people who swear by PBT keycaps.

Thanks for all the replies so far folks.

That would make for a cool project, and having my own custom keyboard would be

awesome, but i probably won't be able to make what i want.

Atleast not looks wise, i would however have awesome customizability when it comes

to the keys.

It requires a bigger time investment than i am able to put in as of right now. Maybe in

a few years when things settle down, Thanks for the pointer.

Someone noted that green cherry keys weren't mass produced in the same way

red/blue are, thus a k70 with green keys would never see the light of day, i don't

know if that statement has any value to it. But what i do know is that green keys are

rare for a reason, and i doubt we would be loud enough to make corsair come out

with a cherry green k70.

Either way the wait would be more than i can stomach :P

The keys in that picture just look incredibly appealing for some reason..

They look amazing and just .. look like they are delicious to type on, maybe

it's the white color doing the trick :P, can any of those people vouch if the

keys actually feel tangibly different? Do they cope with finger grease and

whatnot to prevent getting that wear and tear, and glossy look regular keys

get?

Actually, i do occasionally dabble in some coding and linux. My plan is to be

doing ALOT more if it down the road, so i would actually be more than willing

to sacrifice my Æ Ø and Å for the better bracket and sign placement, i mean

yeah, the letters are awesome.

But sometimes you just got to move on... 95.5% of all written communication

i do happens through English anyway.

I did look at the ducky shine 4, it looks nice (even nicer now that i realize the feet are removable)

and it actually boasts alot of bells and whistles, i don't think i will use the

backlighting or any other fancy shmancy stuff,(except possibly illumination of pressed keys that is)

i don't even use the backlighting on my k70, but it's kinda nice knowing

it's there :P

I kinda got a thing for aluminum though, i could totally go for a more abstained

minimalist design with aluminum frame.

Something from CODE would be your best bet, although they don't come with a wrist rest as far as I know.

you only recently got atleast one keyboard with green keys that i know of,

but if you have some extended experience with them i got one question.

I have been mashing the key-switch tester day in and day out for more than

a week, and i can vouch that the green key is SIGNIFICANTLY lighter than

it initially was. And no matter how much i have pressed the key is certainly

cannot be more than 1000 key strokes on each key, so it really shouldn't be

a problem.

The white and black keys are stiffer than the green by now, and i actually find

the green key a tad light. Is this something you have  encountered? the green

key becoming lighter with use? (not just a matter of getting used to the key)

Greens feel lighter to me over time, yes. I believe that getting used to them gives the effect of this but I am not sure. I have only had the new KB for 2 weeks.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Well i have given up on my short lived dream, for i am a weak

willed person.

I have set my sights on the ducky premier instead, there will be

MANY compromises, but dammn it looks like a nice keyboard.

Since you recommended it. Do you have any idea where i could

acquire it? i am looking for the blue/gray version with green cherry

keys. i don't care about nordic layout, i'l take what i can get.

i have been searching since thursday and emailed  5 different shops

with no luck so far, and i'm starting to get desperate...

any advice?

I have looked around some, but I couldn't find anywhere where they sold one with Blue/Grey caps at all. The only one I could find were the ones with Green/White keycaps.

And the only sets of caps that I saw was sold separate were blank Blue/Grey ones. :/

Check it out, it's a masterpiece:

Looks wee bit tacky, but somehow

i still love it.

i don't know how many tens or hundred sites i have visited..

but i have found a few, but none with green cherry keys. Even

if i found keys separately, they are half as expensive as the

keyboard itself. I'm more than willing to drop stupendous

amounts of money on my ideal keyboard. But i can't go bankrupt

on this midway compromise. (Only viable substitute i might add)

Really not very impressed with ducky.. just blurting out a whole

bunch of "limited edition" keyboards, have them run out and

make something new..  then watch as people cry in agony, unable

to acquire the keyboard they want.
