Here is my build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PnvPhM

Im looking to build around a $1000-$1300 system.

I went with the i7-4790k because i got $100 off at my local microcenter.

Is the power supply enough to support OC and a SLI with 2 gtx 970s?

Is an z97 board the best option and if so is their a better z97 board? I choose this one because it matched my color scheme and it supports SLI which i plan on doing in the future.

Should I get an after market cooler right now? I plan on OC but for right now I'm going to be running everything at stock speed.

Is their a better gtx 970 card?

Any other suggestions?

The PSU will handle 2 970's with ease.

This beard is a good bang for the buck and looks badass.

Maybe get the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo if you want a cheap cooler.

The GTX 970 is great.

All in all, you have a great build there, imo.

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

looks solid to me, the psu should be plenty for SLI :)

if you're gonna SLI, i'd go with the EVGA cards (personal preference) but the G1 Gaming will do. and i would get a Phanteks Enthoo Pro as a case.

Looks good to me.

@Johaddord don't forget to follow your own topics

Edit: also an aftermarket cooler would be better now, a hyper 212 or really any noctua or be quiet heatsink is plenty.

Why do you say that?

Woo!

The psu is plenty although the G2 series is much better.

Were you planning to watercool?

I don't really see how the board matches your theme..?

The cooler doesn't change how much heat the card dissipates. The Windforce cooler is also better than ACX.

Why do you say that?

The windforce cards do a slight better job at cooling but at the expence on heating everything in your case up substancialy (chipset, CPU, Hard drives)

I am going with an evga ACX 2.0 cooler for sure

Pretty solid, I would change the SSD for an MX100, just for the sake of saving a couple bucks and staying on budget. Regarding the GPU, I'm not a fan of Windforce to be honest, but in the end it's preference. I would go with the EVGA ACX 2.0 for the 1.29Ghz clockspeed, and decent cooler. But it's just preference, you could even go for the original model and still would be fine.

You should have good enough cooling for that windforce card. Unless he wants to add more fans, then i would say that he should stick with that G1. IMHO, i would get the ASUS Strix model. Its fan never spins. EVEN when playing light games like league of legends etc etc..... Of course the fan will spin playing Triple AAA games.

What is your colour scheme ? Red/White and Black ? The Gigabyte card has a blue led logo which may or may not suit.

Swap the psu for the G2 version.

Same heat, just removed differently

More efficiently

Good call, just quite expensive

If your worried about heat blowing in your case get a blower style card from EVGA like the EVGA 04G-1972-KR GeForce GTX 970 Superclocked 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 from newegg for $349.99 or if you want a card that keeps the heat in your case go for the EVGA 04G-2974-KR GeForce GTX 970 Superclocked 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 ACX 2.0 PCI Express 3.0 for $349.99 from newegg also

Same heat, just removed differently

More efficiently

It's technically more 'efficient' but not in the connotation that it would change the amount of heat being removed from the graphics card.

Saying the cooler just cools 'better' would be more appropriate.
