So I think my CPU ( AMD A6-5400k) is bottlenecking my card. ( R7 260X ) but it is most likely not. But I am not saitisfied with the performance of my CPU, in Minecraft I get a mere 15-30 FPS. This game is CPU intensive and I know that, but I thought the cpu would be able to handle most of the games I play.

Should I upgrade to an 860k or finally empty my wallet and go Intel? I know FM2/FM2+ has no upgrade path but i just want to be able to play games at a decent FPS.

Also is it my GPU causing these issues? instead and should I upgrade that?

thanks!

Minecraft is CPU-intensive, so get a Pentium G3258 and an H81 mobo. Most other games are GPU intensive so get a GPU instead for that scenario.

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

Your GPU is def not the problem in this case...

CPU upgrading would be something you need to do.

I don't know what you should upgrade to  though, not that knowledgeable about that.

I agree, get a Intel Pentium G3258 and a decent Z97 board so that you have an upgrade path later on to something like a 4690K or the 4790K. The G3258 should destroy Minecraft easily. Your GPU is still fine.

I would opt for the i3.  For that specific game a Pentium will be just fine, but give yourself a little breathing room and stretch for the i3.

There are less expensive motherboards available, but this one gives you some room for grow, as well as extra DIMMs and motherboard fan headers.

I don't think it is an issue with the GPU, because that game is not graphically demanding and basically runs on integrated graphics.

The G3258 would be a good processor for your situation, and yes MC is very CPU-intensive.

But I do play GPU intensive game as well, such as Titanfall, which ramps up my fan speed on the GPU and gets incredibly noisy then ends up with a crash of my pc. this is why I believe I need to upgrade that as well. Or just more fans in my system?

Minecraft uses CPU more than GPU!

So better get a CPU, like a Pentium G3258 may be?!

My budget is maximum of $200 USD and I live in Reno, Nevada so there arent any Microcenters or Fry's nearby.

Then get Pentium K with a nice Z97 Mobo and if you can an aftermarket cooler, then when you have more money upgrade your GPU, and then you can think, again, about better CPU :)

Ive been looking at the Vangaurd B85 from Asus. Have you heard of this board before? if so, is it any good do you think?

You get a mobo that supports CF, a nice OC'er, and with that cooler you could get it on 4.6Ghz, maybe even more :)

I suggest Z97, since while you can OC Pentium K with other boards, they aren't made with that in mind (have lower quality components)! Get Z97 PCMate and then upgrade to an Broadwell (supported by x97) i5/7 :D

Is it possible for you to stretch to $225 by chance?

Either way, the CPU should be upgraded. I suggest you buy a CPU and MoBo first, stick the R7 260X in there... after a while, if you're still not satisfied, upgrade the GPU.
