Looking for other RGB keyboards

FoxHound

I am currently looking for a RGB keyboard that allows for macros, single key LED control, I don't want a tenkeyless and lastly It doesn't have to be mechanical.

I have been looking at either a K70 or K95 from Corsair. I have never owned a mechanical keyboard and am leaning towards brown switches but might be open to other options(If there are even other options).

The K65/K70/K95 RGB are the only legitimate choices out there. They're well built, reliable and real unlike the Razer BlackWidow Chroma and have a plethora of LED choices unlike the Rosewill RGB80.

I think theres only 2 major players in the RGB game, Corsairs K RGB or Razer's Chroma. If you get the Corsair, heres a guide to remove the horrible Corsair Gaming Logo.

That isn't a problem anymore, as the current model is offered without the Corsair Gaming logo and instead with a black Corsair logo.

My cousin has one, looks pretty slick. I think it was about a month after launch.

Corsair recognize an issue and will service any users who have said issue. It's not as bad as the original K70, since the new model uses a different type of LED to reduce ESD.

On a side note What kind of key caps would you replace the ones that come with it or would you. I was thinking white key caps would look really good on it.

I have the K95 and it is freaking awesome. People say CUE is hard to use. They are RIGHT. CUE IS A NIGHTMARE. But still, the K95 has been an awesome choice. I recommend it if you can spare the time to learn how to use CUE. it is powerful but incredibly un-intuitive.

K95--the keys feel very nice and the RGB is fast and smooth.

*I don't know anything about the Chroma but I hate RAZER so I didn't bother to look it up.

I'd keep the stock ones, though white could definitely look good. Maybe MaxKeyboards have what you need. I know the people over at http://www.reddit.com/r/mechanicalkeyboards know a fair bit about caps.

I was thinking of grabbing these, I'm using the K70 and it only came with grippy WASD keys. I might grab a pack of these for QWER D and F for when I play league.

At this point I always tell people to wait until after CES to see if there will be any new RGB keyboards announced.

Or else, just look at Corsair's lineup of RGB keyboards.

You might want to take a look in SteelSeries Apex. Though not as  "RGB" as legit RGB keyboards out there. a lot of macros, tenkey, and not mechanical. Haven't tried it though. http://steelseries.com/products/keyboards/steelseries-apex-gaming-keyboard

...I have seen many reviews about dead led's any input on this?

Dead LEDs happened frequently on the non-RGB board. The switch covers they're using on the RGB models are supposed to prevent the ESD that creates problems with LEDs I believe.

What about Linux and OSX users?

Considering they're centered towards gamers, the only software suite for them is on Windows. Issue then becomes a lack of RGB keyboards with key layouts for either OS.

What about Linux and OSX users?

The Corsair K series has onboard memory, so you'll need access to a Windows computer to run the utility and get a profile running, but then after that it should work on other OSs. Don't know about Razer.

Roccat is coming up with new RGB Ryos, though it might be a while away.

It'll have thumb macro buttons which I could see myself using. Unfortunately, the keyboard doesn't have dedicated media keys. Roccat doesn't make linux drivers themselves but they give out the tools for the community to do them.

i think the Razer lighting effects are wayyyyyy better.

But the Corsair has better key switches, and a bit better build.

I need to color code individual keys for specific applications also need macro support for individual keys, so less about looking pretty and more about functionality. I currently am leaning towards the K95 and a nice set of white key caps.
