what do you think is the best way to apply thermal paste and what is the best thermal paste?

MX-4 or NT-H1 are good (there are better ones, but they are extremely difficult to apply and very dangerous)

just put a tiny pea sized dot in the center of the CPU

for applying what endermen sayd and for thermal paste the diffirence between the most expensive and the cheapest is mayby a few degrees so just get one of those easy to apply pastes and your are fine  (btw for x99 and other big cpu's you will need a line instead of a dot of paste)
