In my system i have currently installed 2 x 8GB ram modules, im planning on increasing it to 32 with 2 more ram sticks.

A few questions,

- can i put 2 different ram sticks which differ from the other 2 sticks already installed.

I have been looking at ebay and i see some ram which come as a set, in total 2 x 8GB. Only problem its says that its only for AMD.

Im running a z77 motherboard with an i5 3570.

Is there a reason why this is not compatible with my system?

@mads243 differ in what way?
I believe they have to be same speed (1333 MHz, or 1600 MHz or 1800 MHz)

Yes, you can mix and match RAM sticks.

However I would not buy that generic RAM off eBay. Get yourself some proper RAM. HyperX Fury is about the same price if not cheaper for 16GBs and is guaranteed compatible with Intel.

Nope, if you have RAM of different speeds it will still work perfectly fine, they will just all run at the speed of the slowest stick, which really doesn't matter anyways unless you use iGPU

You can and they don't have to be the same speed. But be warned, If you have 2x1600MHz sticks and you insert 2x1333MHz sticks they will all clock themselves at 1333MHz.

They all need to be on the same clock speed to work and that means the lowest clock speed will be the one it will work on. :)

Browsing through this thread and I want to ask do voltages make a difference? Can you put 2 sticks with 1.65v and 2 sticks with 1.5v together?
