Better or Best Record Player for <$100?

Preface - I'm not exactly sure if maybe another sub-forum is a better place for this if so. Could a mod please move it to a more fitting topic.

Anyways lets get into it, is there really any distinction between say a Crosley and another brand and if so what are they and is there anything I should

be aware about when buying a lower end record player.

(I plan on pre-ordering Modest Mouse's upcoming album Strangers to ourselves.)
