So tomorrow on Friday is the last day I can return anything that I've bought on Boxing Day, and I wanted to ask a quick question. Right now I bought the I7 4790K and I thought about it. It'd cost me $200.00 Cad more if I wanted to switch to X99 so I wanted your opinion on this.

Should I switch to it or stay with Z97?

For gaming, a 4690k will perform basically as well as a 5820k. If you are doing productivity work, go x99, if you are just gaming, go z97 with a 4690k.

Not worth it. Even for content creation a 4790K is more then enough. At the point where you buy it, a 5820K may have been worth the extra money but at this point it's not worth the effort to switch on top of the cost.

Keep the i7. Spend the $200 on a better gpu, larger ssd, or just save it.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

What will you use your PC for ?

Gaming and Content Creation plus 3D Rendering and such

for gaming, no for content creation, only if you have the money, dont spend what you cant afford to

Yeah I know, I just wanted opinion on this cause I was asked if we should and I thought an I7 4790K was enough but just in case. It's for both gaming and content creation

I'm using it for productivity work. Gaming as well. I believe an I7 4790K is enough to be honest

If your PC is purely for gaming, then Z97... X99 is more for workstations and a waste of cash for gaming nowadays, imho

I agree that the X99 at the moment is a waste. Until it starts to drop than maybe, however it's for both work and gaming

It always depends. Gaming/lite/modarate (maybe high) content creation - i7 High video editing or you have a small penis and you want to be superior than others - x99

Alright thanks for the advice !

Yeah but I think the 4790K would be enough I guess

Yeah that's what I considered doing really, though I'm unsure is all just wanted to confirm whether it is good or not.

Thanks for all the replies, appreciate it quite a lot !

Go for the X99 and pick the Asrock extreme 6 x99 motherboard, trust me it will help you a lot.
