It's a quite old card, based on the Geforce 400 series GPU's, known to be very power hungry.

There are last gen quadros... Fermi based.

 

The kepler ones are really the ones to look at now, and honestly for around $1000 a FirePro W8100 is WAAAYYYY faster.
