For photography, besides the monitor, does the CPU matter more? or the GPU? I have a Athlon x4 860k that my mom got for me.

Photography? Should be ok. Hardcore video editing will need something more demanding.

it depends on which software you are using to edit the photos...but usualy most of these editing softwares prefer faster cores over more cores so your best bet to get better editing experience

would probably be to just overclock the CPU a little bit or moving to a faster intel haswell based solution.

If you're doing graphic design on a 3D program such a blender/3ds max etc, yes a better cpu would probably help, depends on what software as many have said.

My G3258 is fine with Lightroom. I had 4gb ram and it was pretty bad, ran like one of the latest Ubisoft games. But after putting in another stick of ram it ran smooth and i'm quite pleased with it. You should be fine with that processor if you're doing Lightroom stuff.

I think if anything you might need some ram if you have 8GB your good. A GPU helps with well the graphics and rendering as well as the CPU

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP LEARNING. DONT LET THE PAST HURT YOU. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT
