~$1500 "Budget Build"

multitasker451

How about this for a sort-of budget build?  Please comment...

I know there's no fans... I'd probably go for Corsair SP120's and SP140's, red ones so they'd match the color scheme.

For the love of God get a better processor, for around 50 bucks more you could get a locked i5 or an 8350 which would be worlds better than the 4350

I'd use it for gaming... my budget is probably closer to $2000 but why not try and save some money since I'm not going to be doing any super hardcore gaming or much overclocking.

What do you want to do with this computer? Then I can make some suggestions.

No don't buy V300's. Get a MX100 or 840 EVO instead!

Keyboard: Corsair K70 Wired Gaming Keyboard  ($119.99 @ Amazon)
Mouse: Corsair Vengeance M65 Wired Laser Mouse  ($51.98 @ OutletPC)????

WTF????

Dude I've built rigs and gamed for years and my mouse/keyboard never went over 20$ for both!

Just get this for 20 bucks and get better pc parts, instead of 200$ on damn buttons; and a mouse that's usually a ripoff

Got that mouse/keyboard set recently. Very VERY comfortable, and looks nice. The fact that if you're gaming you use WASD, 1234, shift (in combination with either) and a few keys around it; OR a controller. I'm assuming you rather get another (dual) monitors instead of spending 200$ on something you can spend 17 (after rebate); maybe a better GPU; an SSD; something useful!

Most of the people here would disagree with you haha. Mechanical keyboards are the best. It's something you won't get until you try it though. Same with the mouse. Although I'm not that big of a fan of the M65. I had it for a while and the Mionix Naos 7000 is much better.

Motherboards are the most overrated pieces of hardware. Why spend ~200$ on a Mobo just to put in your 500$ CPU? That's the price of a monitor, some nice memory, sometimes 80% of a graphics card, just for a square piece of plastic that you connect all your parts."

Uh...... go buy the cheapest motherboard you can find, stick in your $500 CPU and see what happens. You will fry every component within a few hours of gaming.

Is it bad that my dream setup only costs a few thousand not counting the obutto?

Well I could not find a motherboard under around 200 that fits a high end i7 socket (~500$ CPU).

If if fits, i sticks; but if the mobo is not made to handle the CPU obviously I won't put it in the wrong socket/mobo V_V

And yes I think intel is working with these mobo companies, getting part of their sales revenue, and making them keep the prices high. The same mobo by asus; one intel socket, one an a3 amd socket (everything the SAME) has a huge price difference.

This is nothing more than buying a Louis Vuitton belt (I love designer belts, and have a few; bad comparison -- they actually have some value); these intel mobos are just shakedowns.

I rather BUY somebody a CPU/GPU that costs the same as a mobo I need and make a trade than give in and pay that much for a square electronic whore [it takes in all the male adapters, multiple male peripherals at a time, in every socket, 24/7, AND ENJOYS IT]

Edit: I also have one of those "All in One" Cpu liquid coolers with built in "water" that I put ontop of my CPU; if I can overclock the hell out of a crappy amd FX and have it running extremely low temps [also have fans all around my case, wanted to just fill it up; more fans don't hurt ^_^ [molex -> 4 fans ftw]]

I agree, but don't skimp on the motherboard, because than you will start frying things.

You can use any Z97 board with an i5 4690K or i7 4790K. It isn't going to fry the cpu.

Now if the cpu in question was an fx-9590 then that would be a different story altogether.
