Hello, I'm wanting to raise some money to get my PC, and wondering how I can do it. Is there any small businesses I can start with around £100?  Hmm, I was thinking of getting a pin ball machine or vending machine and then placing it somewhere like in my school's Sixth Form lounge; but they have all been waaaay over my budget or collection only:/

Thanks :P

Would a Sixth Form even allow for something like that though?

What do they know of England, who only England know?

Yeah, they already have a pool table in there which is used ALOT. It's a new-ish Sixth Form too, so there's not hundreds of kids.

You can't just "start a business" with a hundred bucks and no experience.

You need to have unique idea that people need/want, several hundred thousands dollars, and at least some university education on business, commerce, or marketing.

At your age you should be looking for part time jobs, not starting businesses.

Also you cant set up profit-machines in public areas just to make money for yourself. If you could, everyone would own vending machines all over the world.

Wouldn't that one be giving all the money from the pool table, that's if it costs to be used back to the college?

What I mean is, have you asked to see if you'd be able to put in another attraction, and from what I gather, make money back from it?

yeah, this.

Otherwise, look into finding what people want or need help with, that you can help them with:

Building computers

Cleaning their house

Mowing their lawns

Tech Support

Well I'm obviously not going to be starting the next huge business. Something like washing cars etc.

Also, If I get the right permission, I can. Give them like 10% or something.

If not, I could put it in somewhere like a barbers, where people are generally waiting a while, and give the owner ~10% for letting me use the space.

In CA you cant work unless your 16 so that puts you out of the loop for another year. I would go with mowing lawns or handy work and save up for  a larger investment for the future.

It's not working, in a sense. No company is employing you; it's just your investment and (and hopefully) profit.

That's what I'm doing

I've been wanting to make a PC building service for a while, you hiring? lol :P I'll probably end up doing that myself when I turn 18. To the OP: I would say do tiny jobs around your area until you turn 16, then get a part-time job...until you turn 18 and you can legally open a business in your name.

I think you should be working part time jobs right now that you don't have any needs to spend money, literally you can save every dollar from your paycheck and start building up your savings so when you have a good idea you'll have something to fund yourself.

I'm sorry, but you are completely wrong.

You can start a business with nothing. I set up a small PC repair business, with less hardly any money, only a few pounds a month for a website.

I don't have any marketing/business experience apart from a GCSE equivalent BTEC in business studies (which doesn't really count for anything)

Pretty much sums it up. I can claim a business name for as little as $25, and I can take free classes on commerce, marketing, etc.

I'm sorry, but repairing PCs for friends and family is not a "business". You need to be licensed to own a business, and you have to pay company taxes.
