personally I would go for 1 980 because it allows for much more expandibilty but most people will tell you dual 970's

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Hey im planning a new build and im stuck on the graphics card.I dont know if i should get 2 gigabyte 970's in sli or if i should get 1 evga geforce gtx 980 Classified. My budget is around $700 for the graphics card thx in advanced

Pretty much every single modern game works great with SLI and it matters huge what resolution is being played. Sli'd 970`s blow the 980 out of the water, and if you are playing 1440p or 4k you will need and want the extra firepower.

Here is a link to some benchmarks....

1 980 is much better for the money at that point.

1 980 = 580$

2x 970's = 740$

2 970s is better you just simply get more power so unless you are really going to butting those extra CUDA cores to use, there is no reason to go for a 980 instead of 2 970s

Actually if you plan getting another 980 in the future I guess that'd be good... but thats the only reason I can think of

I would get 1 980 because it's cheaper, allows for more expand ability down the line. The people that say 2*970 are scrubs

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

The 2 970's will perform better, but as long as you are not running 4k or a 120hz monitor, That much power is really not needed. I would go for the 980 as you save money and have the ability to upgrade to sli 980's in the future and you will still have a very high performance rig.

Case: Phanteks Evolve X with ITX mount  cpu: Ryzen 3900X 4.35ghz all cores Motherboard: MSI X570 Unify gpu: EVGA 1070 SC  psu: Phanteks revolt x 1200W Memory: 64GB Kingston Hyper X oc'd to 3600mhz ssd: Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB ITX System CPU: 4670k  Motherboard: some cheap asus h87 Ram: 16gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz

Two 970's will give better performance, but I really recommend just getting a single 980. You'll have a more stable experience as well as less heat coming out of your system and less power being consumed.

Then later down the line you can either sell your 980 for a decent amount towards the next best thing or buy another 980 on the cheap.

I would go for the single 980 and just get another one when you have extra cash or need extra performance. With that you will have something to look forward to in the future for upgrades.

I would get on eBay and buy 2 x 970s.

eBay because ... no tax :DD

The single 980 is not too much better and for $200 more than a 970, I'm not sure its actually worth it. Plus, the 970s can be overclocked to near-980 performance levels.

If you get a single 908, you can resell it in January when the 390x comes out (hopefully) and get that card instead.

Anyways, you better not be gaming at 1080p with this monster :P at LEAST 1440p or triple 1080p

SLI 970s would be faster but a single 980 would offer more expandability.

If you don't plan on SLI then just get the single fastest GPU that you can find (EVGA Classified 980 atm).
