Is heat dangerous to the cpu?

Laurysss

Is it ok that when I run games my fx 8350's temp max is 57*C? Can that reduce the life span of the cpu? I oc'ed it 1.4 V @ 4.7Ghz.

And should my cpu fan face the gpu or the top of the case?

CPU: AMD FX 8350 | GPU: AMD R9 270 Windforce | MOBO: ASRock 990FX Extreme 3 | RAM: Kingston HyperX 8GB | Case: X Predator X1 |CPU COOLER: Hyper T4

NAZIS WILL RISE.

57C is still good... I'll start worrying when the load temps reach 70C...

Edit: and it's more ideal to exhaust through the top or the back of the case...

57*C when gaming not on full load.

62*C is max safe temp they said.

62C?

Might be time to get a better cooler or lower the overclock...

First searches indicate, that this is indeed the point at which the CPU starts throttling itself to preserve the CPU.

Unfortunately, this info came from other forums reporting on personal experiences. Have not been able to verify that information with AMD sources.

i believe it is 62° for core temperatures (but getting an accurate software tool to

read them correctly is near impossible) and 74° for the socket temperature

(again, wanky software). so depending on what your temperature reading is

from you are well under the "maximums".

1.4vCORE is a little steep, voltage is more of a killer than the temperatures (temps

are controllable) and heat is is usually a byproduct of high-voltage. but if stable

you are fine.
