Are cold drinks okay,while having a sore throat?

I have a apple milkshake lying in front of me but i have a sore throat......

The soreness is pretty low but i am worried it might increases...

 

 

So what do you say?

Best to drink room temperature liquids. But cold is OK.

Yes, cold drinks are wonderful for a sore throat. Go for it!

Its kinda odd my parents put a nail in my head that cold is BAD....not sure if its a cultural thing or what..

Interesting. Over here it's mostly: "Feel bad?" — "Eat or drink something cold and you'll get better in no time." Haha.

I think its not so easy to say.

It decreases the blood flow trough your mucosae which reduces the strength of your immune system and some viruses prefer lower temperatures.

On the other side its preventing inflammations.

You should drink slowly I think.

Nothing bad. I always drink cold coke when I have sore throat.  :lol:

*putting on my doctorhat* Id say that if your throat is swollen, cold could be quite good! Might reduce the swelling and soreness a bit!

cold isn't bad for a sore throat, but personally i like to drink warm (not hot) coffee or hot tea.... a lot of cold drinks like coke contain acids and that can hurt your throat even more
