Decent 2.1 Speakers

MEC-777

Currently using $15 Logitech speakers with my PC and well, they just don't cut it, to say the least. They're actually not bad for $15, but there's not much base and not very clear.

Long story short, I'm looking for decent quality 2.1 speakers for under $100. I'm not an audiophile, but I do appreciate and prefer to have good sounding speakers with solid balance and clarity. So, what do you guys recommend/suggest in the $50-100 price range? Any brands I should stay away from?

Thanks,

MEC.

Pay a little more and get a pair of edifier c2xd they are amazing for that price or get Microlab FC 330 they are good too but edifier is a little stronger and have higher sound quality.

Beware of him that is slow to anger; for when it is long coming, it is the stronger when it comes, and the longer kept. Abused patience turns to fury.

Thanks for the suggestion. The C2XD is a bit overkill and too pricey for what I'm looking for. Was considering the Edifier M1380. Any thoughts on them?

Not bad but not great either. They will get the job done and the sound quality is just fine but for a big room is not very good since the sub is a little weak also they lack tweeters a mush have for high frequency. As i said not a bad choice for a day to day use even more if you are not a bass freak or an audiophile

I fully understand that speakers in this price range will not be perfect in every way, but what I am asking is; what is the best in that price range (in your opinion)?

I bought a set of monsoon 2.1 speakers about 8 years ago and they were really good for the price I paid at the time (about $70-80). Sadly, they don't make them anymore but if I can find something similar to those, I'd be happy.

Had these ones, to be exact:

Sure, no prob. Thanks.

I usually buy most of my PC stuff from the local Canada Computers store as they often have prices that are competitive with any online stores. Here's the link to their 2.1 PC speaker selection: http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?cPath=41_535 They most likely have others to choose from in-store that aren't listed on the site, but it's a place to start looking anyways.

Love these:

Logitech Speaker System Z623 2.1

http://mobile.logitech.com/en-us/product/speaker-system-z623

Great for movies and makes the music sound good, lots of base and could power a party (dont bother with audiophile bullshit, if you want to monitor sound this is the wrong price range anyways ;))

Sorry, didn't see the price.

These should be fine: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=41_535&item_id=062380&sid=o63edl1hs0si46eraci3sejnj2

If the maximum price is 100$ then i will say this.

If you want just some normal speakers purely for sound quality then Edifier R1280T

If you are looking for a good sound balance then Edifier M3250 also if you can pay 30 more S330D because is see you have then on that site

If you want a lower price but decent speakers then any of these Genius SP-HF1800A,FC550,Trust GXT 38

To be honest if you don't need too much bass i would get those R1280T in no time if not pay a lil more or wait some more and get the M3250.Why i don't recommend lower priced products?Because they are not worth the money. As for the site you are going to buy from...damn that's a ver very small speakers selection

ps:logitech is crap. They used to make good products but they are going down had the old z5500 and the new z906.I returned the z906 to get the edifier s550.Edifier is and will always make the best multi media speakers on the market. Those recommending logitecch they don't know a lot about speakers.

Beware of him that is slow to anger; for when it is long coming, it is the stronger when it comes, and the longer kept. Abused patience turns to fury.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll take a closer look at what they have in stock next time I'm at the store. :)

I know you say you can't recommend any speakers that are cheaper because you don't think they're worth it. But for me, I can't justify spending more because I won't use them a lot (use headphones majority of the time) and I honestly probably couldn't hear the difference between a good $80-100 speakers and good $130-150 speakers. I also understand that what sounds "good" to one person, may not sound "good" to another. Sound is very subjective to the individual and I'm guessing you're bit of an audiophile? If so, speakers you say are "ok" will probably sound great to me. ;)
