Nope. Wouldn't be worth it.

Unless you're preparing for the long, cold winter.

???

Are you mad?

Do you want to cook yourself?

Perhaps a couple 480s and an FX 8320 is more realistic I presume.

Well if the price is right (as in sub 100 bucks for two cards) then yeah, why not, but if it's any higher it doesn't make sense.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

i would prefer 2 560ti's, since they are practically the same, and much less power hungry

EDIT: nevermind, not the same guy.

That would presumably be this guy with tri-SLI 465:

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/191558-gtx-465-3-way-sli/

He was motivated to do it because he didn't like his GTX 770 for this reason:

I just wasn't happy with it. It performed too well. It was too quiet. It was too cool. It was too power efficient. It couldn't overclock. I hated it

I like high performance beasts. 480 would be more like a 660 or a 560ti (448 cores)

Yes, because I can clock my 8350 higher than the 9590 within a safe voltage. Unless you're too lazy to overclock, it's better going for a lower end chip.

I'd rather dual R9 270's over the GTX 480. I know Newegg had the PowerColor R9 270 for $100 a pop just the other day, but they're $120 now.

The R9 270 is the 7870, and the 7870 is slightly better than the GTX 480...

that's what it makes sense to pay for them (not to mention they'll almost certainly be used)... anything higher and I'd say get something newer. I never said he'd find them at that price, it's just what I'd pay for them.

I could use a 480. My computer room is sometimes rather chilly in the winter, the heating system in my house isn't so strong.
