I don't see at all why is this rejected by so many people. What is wrong with having a company sponsor you as a esports team, or even a sports team? Does it make a difference AT ALL if its Intel, Corsair, MountainDew or YouPorn who sponsors the team?

um.....an porno website sponsoring a esports team in an industry whose major demographic are underaged male teens.....yup, no problem with that.  That's like saying its ok for cigarette companies to sponsor a junior sports team.

It is like saying like a coffee/beer company starts to sponsor a college.

They are the target audience. They can hide behind that they are there to advertise for over 18+, but I know it, you know it, probably they found more websites of porn than us, and have a few hundred gigs of porn on their PC....

Well, I guess parents will prevent kids from going to those websites, but even still, there is nothing you can do to prevent a 12-14yo kid from looking up stuff anyway, even our ancestors would do whatever they could to take a peek from a window in a dresser.

And the point you try to make also collides with the ads on TV and public places that feature not only cigarettes and drinks, but also show almost-naked persons. Kids admire their favourite athletes too, and you see basketball teams with beer brands all over the place.

That it has a publicity it doesn't mean a kid will acquire the habit, education is for that.

if it will actually happen, then the sponsor will be a constant reminder to the team to go to their website and well... "pull a fast one"

 

can you IMAGINE how a tired team will perform after that? They will always loose...

Don't ever post here but am an avid Dota 2 player and fan. The team they sponsored isn't even considered to be tier 2, as they are just a small amateur team of amateur players from Spain which has no Dota 2 scene whatsoever. Bigger teams were contacted by YouPorn, but no one wanted the sponsorship from them. Having a porn site sponsor your team might be the kiss of death for some tournaments, and it's not worth the risk when really no tier 1 teams are that desperate for a sponsorship.
