Hey guys~ I have a technician working at my school's biology lab and whenever me and my class were to do experiments he would start shouting at us and saying that "Why don't you guys use your bloody brains? Dont you have them?" over and over again. This is really mentally taxing and i am on the verge of straight up beating him up. Any suggestions on how to deal with this?

PS: We didnt made any mistakes. (he would start shouting at us when we were to do things that didnt go his way eg. Trying to search for our cell cultures in the incubator / Using the autoclave for sterilization of agar plates) even though he did not give clear instructions on what to do when we entered the lab. This has happened multiple times too (around 3-4 times) so i highly doubt that he is just having a bad day.

Tell him to demonstrate it if he's so certain of himself, otherwise let the students do what they need to do to learn. You can't expect people to do it 100% right the first time.

If you are the teacher tell him to stop being such an ass and otherwise step to a higher person like the director or head of subject

Can't you tell the school administration? Just tell them about you problem, and they will probably look into it.

Beating him up won't help. That will probably just get you expeled.

You could also talk to him. Tell him that his way of dealing with you, is stressing you out.

Best thing to do is report him to the school. Either through some sort of written letter or go and see someone and tell them directly.

Much better than trying to deal with it yourself or something. He may be given a warning or something similar and hopefully he'll stop

Report him to the higher ups and emphasise the level of stress it is placing on yourself and your peers and how it is making for an unhealthy learning environment. Don't do anything rash or you could end up getting expelled.

If the teacher has a bad day, it doesn't mean he/she has to growl on you all.

Tell him to go outside, drink some tea and come back, and for a teacher shame on you.

If you get nerved up by it, talk to him personally with your coach, mentor or someone directive function.

its not nice to be a dick because you are a teacher, and teachers are dicks, sometimes.

Dont you as have some professor that is like "main" for your class? We have one professor with who we have 1 class a week and you can ask, suggest or say that something is wrong.

The professor told me to hold my temper. He said that so as long as we achieved our goal, there is no need to deal with him and that we will have to deal with these kind of people in the future. Better to train your mental strength now then later.

Did that already :( I've written what he said above ^

Professor is right. Its risky to report him as if he finds out it can turn out bad for you. I have really bad professors and had lot of conflicts with them (i just cant be quiet if they are bad) and it never influenced them. They have their way of work and only their word is last usually.

Taking him aside and speaking to him personally seems like the most viable option. Just calmly tell him that you find his tone to be intimidating and offensive and that it is having an adverse effect on your ability to work in class. If you are afraid or nervous of doing so then bring a close friend along with you for support and emphasise that you would like for the teacher to put more trust in the students; say that you guys as students are capable of conducting practicals in class without being guided every step of the way and that there is a symbiotic relationship between student and teacher where both are able to learn from another. The teacher lays the stepping stones and guides the student so that they may excel to greater heights and impress the teacher with their newfound knowledge and understanding.

As preparation for this confrontation, write down a list of problems that you want addressed and then sit together with your peers at break time and discuss how best to address this in a respectful and productive manner (ensure all members of your discussion group take the thing seriously and don't let one another be overcome by emotion). Once you have done this, structure what you are going to say and familiarise yourself with it; make sure it gets the point across but at the same time doesn't sound disrespectful. And finally approach and speak.

Hope all goes well and remember: Can't fight fire with fire, still produces H2O and CO2 in the end.

I would advise you secretly record him with video and audio and then show it to his superiors and see what comes out of it. keep your cool, while you may think beating him up will satisfy your frustration with the situation, you will be putting yourself in a position to be penalized more than you deserve. Get to a local boxing gym and take a piece of wood and beat the shit out of it or do the same to a pillow or cushion at home and release your frustration. You can also go into a 1st person shooter game and RPG the shit out of everything and everyone.

Just ignore him. Teachers' anger is mainly originated from their teachers who were shouting at them too and were mistreating them.

My advice is to ignore him.

I'll take your guy's advice into consideration... Thank you guys! :) My impression of LTT has improved dramatically now :)

I was about to say that. Record it while he's flipping off, but since filming in school might be forbidden, put it on a youtube account and make sure the directors see it without knowing it's you.
