Massdrop K7XX AKG Headphones

Stuman1

I was thinking of getting a pair of these in the next 11 hours before the drop ends, but I was wondering how beneficial it would be to have an Amp/DAC (I don't really know which, I'm new to this kind of stuff), and which ones you'd recommend and their rough price?

50Cent sweg.

just get an amp for the beginning. maybe bravov2, objective2 or some schiit amp. some say this headphone don't need much amplification, but I'd say a low level amp wouldn't hurt either. dac you can add later on, your onboard is just fine.

price ranges from 70 - 100usd

If one does not fail at times, then one has not challenged himself.

They are over 60ohms, it's above average, so many motherboards and devices will have a tougher time delivering quality sound to them; but if you have some nice motherboard audio it's fine. I'd still recommend a dac/amp combo, the Fiio E10 and E10K are pretty good while keeping the price low. If you don't want to spend so much and just want the AKGs to behave properly, get an AMP, something like a Fiio E5 or E6 is going to work just fine.

A lot of reviews say they benefit from an amp. I got them and am also looking for an amp, I'm thinking fiio e10 off of ebay for like $50, it's $25 cheaper than the e10k, and the e10k isn't a huge improvement over the e10. If you want to get something a bit higher end, I'd recommend schiit magni for $100 or mayflower standard o2 amp for $120.
