anyone use a 3ds?

officiallyasimulator

Hey guys, i have decided for christmas since most of the tech i want isnt released here yet, i will buy a 3ds+ one of the new pokemon games.

i already have a bunch of ds games so that isnt a problem yet. i can get the system itself in the box from a friend for $140. i probably wont use the 3d feature but i dont want a 2ds because it is super uncomfortable in my hands.

anyways, if you have one, comment on the experience with it.

A friend of mine bought it to play pokemon x and y. He does regret buying it a little, because there aren't that many games.

So I wouldn't recommend buying it unless you really want to play certain games. Btw, $140 is a bit expensive for a used one, especially if he is your friend.

I love mine. Bought it X and Y. Ended up getting Link Between Worlds and Bravely Default as well. I don't regret it for a second. I haven't bought Ruby or Sapphire yet because I'm not sure if the wife is getting one for me for Xmas but I will be getting one of those.

I have a 2DS and my sister has a 3DSXL. They are solid devices, what else do you expect from Nintendo, but the software is really wonky.

I would highly recommend getting into the ecosystem, but don't buy games through the EShop because if I remember correctly the digital games are still tied to your hardware and not the account. So if your 3DS breaks you have to call up Nintendo and have them do a system transfer to copy the data over to a new 3DS. I'm only buying physical games from them until this is changed, which I'm pretty sure hasn't changed, but I could be wrong on this.

i only buy physical copies of AAA games because my internet is shite, and i like looking at a wall of boxes rather than a list.

how do you find the shape of the 2ds?

how do you find the shape of the 2ds?

Actually I'm finding it really comfortable and it fits my hands pretty good. I have large/long hands(about 8inches long), so my hands have a strong grip on it and my thumbs line up perfectly with the thumbstick and ABXY buttons. Personally I would love to see a 2DSXL version to get some more width/height to it, actually I'd love some thickness to it, but for the price and the 3D being gone(which I've never liked to begin with), it's perfect for me. The "wedge" shape is not perfect, but it's a nice shape for now.

But really get what you feel is comfortable. My sister and cousins prefer the large screens(they all have XL's), but the smaller screen to me is perfect. Plus I like to play when I'm going to bed so a smaller screen is a bit more ideal in that situation in my opinion.

Oh and take note that 3DS games can now get updates from the EShop, even if they are physical copies. They aren't that big of an update, but OR/AS already has a v1.1 update which will be required if you want to use online features. So if you're playing offline you'll be fine, but if you'll want to wonder/trade, battle, and streetpass people you'll need the update.

The 3DS is awesome, and the 3D effect is good too, but in some games, like Pilot Wings Resort the 3D effect is kinda disturbing. But I do totally recommend it

My thoughts on the 3DS are... meh. My wife and I bought 2 of them randomly one day because she wanted to play Animal Crossing lol. It was fun for a while, especially in Tokyo because almost everyone has a 3DS over there, but after a while it got kind of boring. Haven't touched mine in months

Did pretty much the same. Bought it to get pokemon X. I play it a little, but hardly enough to warrant any kind of price tag. Makes me miss my PSP and SOCOM quite a bit though.

If the games coming out on it are your kind (people selling souls for pokemon, midnight lineup for super smash bros) then yea.

Good one, lol. Almost didn't catch the sarcasm in your post.

I don't really play many games for gameplay anymore honestly. I play most games just for the graphics.
