Socket am2 or 3 hold-down bracket I think. I used one once with a CM Hyper TX3 on a mobo for an AMD Athlon II X4 965 if that helps at all.

Does anyone know what this is used for? I believe it came with my case, just found it in my spare parts box

You can lock the secondary part onto the first by rotating the hinge.

It is a hold down bracket for a really old type of CPU heatsink.

AH right. I use a Coolermaster Hyper TX3 Evo CPU cooler, so this thing would have been used if I had a socket for an AMD chip, right?
