What do you prefer... PC Gaming with a mouse and keyboard or Controller?

Nettot

I use a keyboard and mouse when possible but some games are just better with a controller to me, usually platformers and hack n slash games. I use a steering wheel for racing games.

Basically I have been a console gamer for a long time, most of my life in fact but as for the last 5 years at least I have fallen more and more in love with gaming on a pc. Obviously there are plenty of advantages of gaming on a pc including having a more powerful system as well as tinkering with any settings that you choose plus now days games can usually be bought for pretty cheap as there is such an increase in digital downloads.

Despite all of this I can't help but feel much more comfortable in RPG games using a controller even on a pc although I love the extra quality I get from using my pc. I was just quite curious what other people thought and their experiences with the two different controlling types.

Don't let some of the PC MasterRace Mouse/Keyboard all day users affect you. It's kind of intimidating because there are a lot of us gamers out there that hate controllers. If you want to use one then use one. I prefer controllers when playing RPG's such as skyrim, and especially racers like Grid 2/Dirt 3. I enjoy gaming on my couch for games that I can so I will use a controller. When I'm playing action RPGs like Torchlight and Diablo, I use a mouse. FPS I'm still learning mouse and I will actually use a controller every now and then.

I usually use M+KB. Only game i consistently use controller with is racing games. Sometimes if I'm not too lazy to get my controller i'll use it for 3rd person games like assassin's creed where precision is not required.

Some games I prefer KBM, others I prefer my Xbox 360 Wireless Controller.

Buying a wireless USB receiver for whatever controller you already have is really inexpensive and works great.  Look into one so you can enjoy both!

I prefer keyboard and mouse for everything, except racing games. For which i have a dualshock 3 with crappy springs, and i'm currently thinking of taking over the G27 from a friend.

It depends. I play Souls games on a controller and have it permanently hooked up incase I need analog controls say like sleeping dogs driving and combat

For first person games and most third person shooters, mouse and keyboards

for (some) platformers, racing games, hack and slash, fighting, and third person games, I prefer a controller, and sometimes sit on my sofa with the tv to play

Keyboard+Mouse for all games, I am just used to it, even for games like Assassins Creed

The only game I have used controller so far is Don Bradman Cricket 2014, it just doesn't support keyboard+mouse, its designed that way

Finally got PS4 Pro

it depends on games too like most said. Some games aren't optimized for gamepad controller and the shooting and aiming are horrible.

Besides you want to be precise and have quicker reactions like in resident evil games / fps.

First person: KB + Mouse

Third person: Depends

"Arcade" style games: Controller

KB + Mouse is great but I'm not going to play little indie platformers, racing games or twin stick shooters that way. And sometimes if I'm playing a third person action game I'd rather sit back in my chair a bit and use a controller. For FPS though? No way I'm using a controller.

Unless you play shooting games with auto-aim mode switched on, a keyboard and mouse is literally a natural extension of you into the game. For everything else, including most sports and racing games (Even third person shooters that usually have aim assists), a controller works best.

Depends on the game and my mood. I was mostly a console gamer so I love sitting back and using a controller for gaming as much as I can.

I'm mainly an FPS player and I prefer mice and keyboards. I can imagine a controller being more comfortable for racing games and the like though.

Keyboard and mouse for anything other than racing games.

What do they know of England, who only England know?

Like others have said, depends on a game.

I don't play many racing or third person games but when i do play them i pretty much exclusively use a controller, unless they somehow fucked it up and i'm forced to use a keyboard and mouse.

On some rare cases i even use a controller to play fps games like bioshock infinite and borderlands series. These aren't twitch shooters so you can perfectly play them with a controller.
