Nokia N1: 8-inch Android Lollipop Tablet with iPad-Like Design and 64-bit Intel Processor

JantsoP

So is this product actually designed and made by Nokia, or is this just the first product to have licensed the Nokia brand name?

From what I've read Foxconn is making this tablet, the same company which makes iPad's. Nokia is just licensing them their name.

Is there anything innovative at all about this?

While innovation is awesome and all, it's not really possible to have something hugely innovative with every single product one makes.

It has a new launcher. That's different.

It's thinner, lighter, has better cameras, better WiFi, and more RAM than the Apple iPad. So that's something.

At the end of the day it's a low priced tablet. It's foolish to expect super awesome amazing things from it.

It's design has to be approved by Nokia. It's made by Foxconn.

This isn't coming to the U.S. mind you, mainly because there is a company here in the U.S. that would sue the pants off Nokia if they did.

Hmmm so I have to order in on eBay eh?

Shame.

Figures, Foxconn manufactures practically every kind of device in tech.

Honestly I would wait a bit and buy it from a reputable importer. From what they said, China is getting it first so beware of Chinese knockoffs/virus infected ones that could harvest your data.

My dad and I are pretty impressed with the specs, and somewhere he read that it'll be around $250, but that is more than likely the equivalent in USD from Yuan/HKD. So it might be $300 or more on Ebay at first, depending on quantity and demand.

I'd wait this one out, which you'd probably not like to do, but it's the safest route in my opinion.

It's not coming out until February, so I've got loads of time.

I'd likely buy from the Nokia site, or something of that nature.

eBay is always a rip off for electronics, I never buy them from there unless I can get a killer deal.

It does sound like a beast though, and with a great design like that minus the fact it has bottom mounted speakers, it'll be my go to tablet.

If only the Nexus were priced this aggressively, I'd be getting that.

I know, I was just asking in general. I had no real expectations.

"Nokia is licensing its brand to Foxconn, and Nokia is responsible for the industrial design and Z Launcher, but everything else is Foxconn's responsibility, from engineering to sales and customer care." This is what I meant to say.
