In that case, get the one that is easiest to drive.

I wouldn't spend so much money on a car that could have a bleak fate. As much as I like the Mercedes, get a cheaper car.

You totaled a car? Get a 2000$ piece of crap and learn to drive kid, without any assistance (ABS, ESP etc.), then come back and buy a decent car. I know you won't do this but at that rate you will never learn to control a proper car.
There is a reason people get a piece of crap car for their first car, it teaches you how to drive, how to properly brake (not smash brakes and hope ABS does the rest) and so much more. Also, in your case, I'd go for the Audi TT quattro.

You WILL crash the BMW, it's too much power and RWD so that won't end well for a newbie. :)

Go to a dealership and find a car around that price range and haggle them down, don't buy something used for that kind of money.

1. I need to sound like a jackass because driving a car is not something that should be taken lightly.

2. I read it, very well I did, you know why it happened? He didn't know it would, he couldn't predict it because of LACK OF EXPERIENCE. Which is why he should buy a cheaper car to learn, pay more attention and know what to expect, break early etc.

Or the best way to get a feel of a car or how well it can perform, get it out on a track and test it's limits, go to a closed circuit, or a huge empty parking lot, get the car to hydroplane and control it, learn to control you vehicle, it's not that hard, it just takes some practice.

At least that's how my dad taught me, can't say it hasn't been useful at least 10 times where I would have crashed or totaled my car.

No shit Sherlock but you don't need to be an ass to someone because of a freak accident of nature. Cars hydroplane, how the hell do drive better so it doesn't? You can't.

Dude, I'm chill, I'm just trying to stress out how important it is to know these things, such accidents happen to even much older drivers, shit happens. The key is learning things the right way as soon as you start learning to drive, it stays with you for life. It's some tips. Same way you learn to drive a bike, nice and slow until you get the feel for it, after that you will master it soon enough. :)

You can't exactly control a vehicle when it hydroplanes... If an accident is caused by that, it isn't necessarily the drivers fault. And no, you aren't chill. Not by a longshot.

In what way was I an ass? For calling him a kid? Well, he is a kid. I gave him solid advice, get a cheap car and learn to drive, if you can't deal with it, than I'm sorry, it's just the way it is. I told him to get an Audi TT quattro which has the best 4x4 system right there next to Subaru, the Z4 does have too much power for a beginner and is RWD, IDK about the Merc but it isn't 4x4 so Audi seems like the logical answer to me.
