Worried about what? 1440p on 27" looks pretty darn good but double GTX 980 can handle 4k quite well. It comes down to personal preference

Worried about what? A single 980 is all you need to run a swift. People always assume you need to sli two flagship cards to run a swift just because it can do 144hz. News flash, g-sync was put in place so you didn't have to blow $1600 on video cards.

I am worried that extra FPS on 1440p will be wasted if we talk about 4k.

Save your money and get a single 980 with the swift. Personally, I'm waiting for the 4k ips panels to drop in price.

Im not so sure 980's can take 4K all that well dont they only have 3gb of VRAM? not sure if that's enough for 'ultra' AAA at 4K. If you are really wanting to go 4K get two 780ti's they outperform 980's at higher resolutions.

They have 4GB of VRAM and it's enough for ultra at 4k. Also 780 Ti's DO NOT outperform the 980 at 4k at all. The 980 OC's better so surpasses the 780ti in performance and the extra VRAM is better for high resolution so what you just said is 100% wrong.

4K is pretty taxing even on 2xGTX 980 and considering that 1440p @ 27'' looks great i'd go with that = higher framerates and more futureproof.

You're on a tech board, there's no such thing as futureproof. Remove it from your vocab.

incorrect!

They come with 4Gb of Vram each

The below video is with stock 980's and the FPS is better than 780 Ti if you look at the bench marks in the video

Reference vs. reference, he's not wrong. Overclocking's not guaranteed, he could get a 980 that's complete crap for overclocking.

The extra vRAM is good for 4K though, especially with games like SoM.

How about you remove that condescending attitude? All im saying is that on 1440p those GTX 980 will last you longer while they might not be able to handle 4k games for many years to come.

If you were going to buy a monitor right now I would go for the swift.

4K is not very mature, windows scaling support is not the greatest.

I would not personally go 4K for another 12 - 18 months. Give it some time to mature, more options will be available at cheaper prices.

The extra performance on 1440p will go into running it at 120hz+

Personally for gaming 1440p and 120hz is an amazing combination

Except that he's right. Unless you possess a magic crystal ball which tells you what games will be released in the future and what kind of hardware they'll need, you should be buying the experience you want today, not tomorrow
