Best earphones for gaming/music for $400

Hello forums,

I'm looking for the best earphones I can purchase for about $400 AUD, I'll be purchasing a Modmic with it as well, which is not included in the cost.

In this price category and if you're into open headphones; Sennheiser HD650, hands down.

I finally managed to break in my AKG Q701s and I'm loving them for both. Very nice.

 

There is no single "Best for X or Y". There is simply what you prefer. That doesn't mean there's not a bad pair of cans in your price range because you can always find something awful at any price.

Get beyerdynamic dt 880 and an amp

Seinheiser 600 series

Audio technica

Also. You need to know what type of sound you want

Bass

Soundstage

Voice clarity

Etc

I'd recommend HD650 if you can get them used off head-fi or amazon, if you can't get them used I'd say look into AKG k612 pro + fiio e10k + modmic.

 

Other options would be DT990 pro 250 ohm + modmic + fiio e10k, HD600 if you want a really neutral sound, or even HE-400 if you can find a good deal on them.

 

Used headphones can be really good deals, most people take very good care of headphones that are ~200$ or above, so it's just about like getting a new pair of headphones, except at a discounted price.
