I left the case empty because he has not chosen one yet.
I was also thinking of switching mobos and going for a gigabyte one and an SSD.
EDIT: I've updated the build

He said he really doesn't care for one but I'm trying to push him for one what would you recommend?

Hey if he doesn't want one, it isn't really necessary.  A good hard drive will work just fine.

But he complains about it being slow.

...then he doesn't know what he's doing.  Lower the ram to 8GB and get him like a 240GB drive for windows.

would recommend an intel 530 (mine has been lightning fast and going strong for over a year) or a kingston 840 or 840 evo.  Avoid their SSDNow series.  Also, ADATA's premier pro ssd's are getting some pretty nice reviews if the price is right for you.

Hi, for games 8GB is more than enough. Also that motherboard is overkill and PSU too but I dont mind having overkill PSU. For SLI setup reference design on cooler is better.

Better save some money on RAM and Motherboard and get SSD like Crucial MX100 for example.

Updated (I kept the 840 EVO since I've only heard good things about it.)

It is good but I dont think it is $50 more good over Crucial MX100. You can almost have 512GB Crucial MX100 for just few $ more.

This is a very generous build, and more cost effective than the others here listed. I would recommend the MX100 vs the 840 Evo, price per GB is more superior and there's that issue with the 840 Evo's which Samsung was forced to fix quite fast given the amount of 840 Evos they've sold.

Case and CPU cooler are a match like few others. The price is amazing, you can put the radiator for the cooler in the right of the case and use it as an intake. I've added 3 fans as well, the 120mm for the front, and the 2 140mm's for the top. PSU is solid, cheaper than anything else in the same range and should last for years and subsequent builds. Superflower OEM doncha know?  ;) The motherboard has ten sata 3 ports, supports SLI and is aesthetically pleasing and has Intel's own gigabit ethernet, superb. Changed the 780's you had originally for cheaper PNY ones, no reason not to.
